Review Prime and Composite Numbers

Do you teach prime and composite numbers in your classroom? When it comes to demonstrating an understanding of this math concept, I believe it’s important for students to know and understand the definition and meaning of a prime and composite number. It is also important for students to be able to distinguish the difference between the two types of numbers by providing examples of each, as well as determining whether a given number is either prime or composite. I use a set of 20 task cards and a set of 7 different worksheets during math centers.

The prime and composite numbers task cards are great for students to demonstrate understanding by determining whether a given number is either prime or composite. The purpose of using task cards within the classroom helps review important concepts while providing students with an alternative learning opportunity through movement. Using task cards is a great alternative to the traditional worksheet.

Then I use a set of seven prime and composite worksheets during math centers and as a quick form of assessment at the end of a math lesson. Within this set, students are able to demonstrate understanding by providing the definitions and examples of each, as well as determining whether a given set of numbers are either prime or composite.
